This has been the second successful year that Playground Buddies have taken an active role within Foxfield. As a team they have developed and built a structure that has been successful throughout the school lunchtime period. The Buddies take a key responsibility around the school supporting midday meal supervisors within the lunch hall and playground, as well as providing additional support around the building during lunch hours.
This year we have introduced different levels of Playground Buddy leaders to give the children more responsibility. Each playground Buddy was interviewed and selected by our Manger Buddies. Our mangers and supervisor’s assist our newer Buddies with their role and have them shadow while supporting around the school.
This term the Playground buddies key focus is on peer mentoring students and working to facilitate playground games. The playground buddies have decided to create a safe space were they are able to talk to students who would like to discuss some of their playground issues. The Buddies have had multiple training sessions on how to deal with problems on the playground and have been implementing their skills during their working days. Some of the older Buddies have started to facilitate games on the pitches. We have selected a number of out Buddies to participate in further sports training that has been offered by an outer training agency. The Playground Buddies are positive about continuing to deliver a high level of support throughout the school community.
