We believe that it is not only important to educate the children but also help the parents and carers too.  Whether this is with things their children are learning or courses designed to help their confidence and self-esteem.

Some of the courses we have run are:

Open Says We – For parents and carers with children with special educational needs

This course enabled parents to not only meet other families with children with additional needs, talk to educational professionals, enjoy massages and relaxation and also receive employment and training advice.  Parents who attended this course said it was very informative and got a lot from it.

ABC – About Boys course

This is a course designed for parents of boys with challenging behaviour.  It helped parents understand their sons development and why he does some of the things he does, helped them with knowing how to set boundries and also gave them confidence to support him through difficult times.  This was a very popular course and one we hope to run again soon.

Parents for Parents Course

This course is to enhance parenting skills and model positive behaviour.  It increases parents understanding of child development and reflect on parents own childhood experiences.  This course is led by one of our Teaching assistants who was previously on this course as a parent.

Discover me

This is probably our most popular course.  This is run by Anna Garcia from the Discover Me programme.  It’s a fun and insightful confidence building programme designed to inspire.

Parents who have been on this course have had the confidence to go on to have job interviews, volunteer and even get jobs.

For more information on the Discover Me programme please click here.

In addition to all of these we have also run workshops about parts of our curriculum, such as Phonics and guided reading.

We always welcome suggestions on what course and workshops to run.  If you have any ideas please come in and let us know and we will try to accommodate you.

If you are interested in taking part in one of our courses please contact Mrs Horsfield our Home School Liason Officer.

Here is what some of our parents have said after our courses:

“The school were extremely accommodating especially Clara, supporting me to deliver the P4P Programme”

“I have learnt a lot on this course, with all that I have learned there will be plenty of changes for the better”

“I have had fun and it has been great learning as a group”

“Without this course I would never have had the confidence to go for the job interview and eventually be offered the job”
