Year 3 Blog
Our learning during Spring has been based on gender equality with a focus on stereotypes present within the work place environment. We examined our own aspirations and interviewed a range of speakers from different career paths at our inspirational Careers Fair. Our core text ‘Rosie Revere Engineer’ by Andrea Beaty, allowed us to see a female working in a role which is predominately male orientated.
For our writing outcome, we explored the role of a news reporter and used this to inspire our newspaper report focusing on including a catchy headline, direct and reported speech.
In Maths, our learning has been focused on shape, in the form of length, perimeter, 2D and 3D shapes and angles. We used this knowledge to support our learning within our DT project and created a working kite.
In Science, we will be looked at forces and magnets. We explored different types of forces and accurately investigated a hypothesis around what makes a kite fly and used this knowledge to build our own kite buggies.
In RE, we looked at Buddhism with a focus on the 8-fold path that Buddhists have to follow in life. We looked at how we could adopt this and apply into our own lives. We also explored the importance of Siddhartha Gautama to the Buddhism.
We had the opportunity to go to KidZania and experience so many different job roles. We were chefs, TV presenters, police detectives, fire fighters, doctors, FBI agents and so much more. We were also able to earn money (kidZos) for all our hard work.
